Counselors must be
aware of multiple cultures when dealing with multicultural clients. This paper focuses on an in-depth literature review of
counseling effectiveness that can be improved by reviewing previous studies that historically analyzed multicultural
counseling practices. More specifically, the literature review may frame findings from previous studies examining gaps in
multicultural counseling competencies. Most of these studies are based on effectiveness definitions and competencies of
cross-cultural counseling. So, this paper highlights the competencies of multicultural counseling in the world, identifying
strengths, weaknesses and challenges using a narrative literature review method in order to continue to make meaningful
contributions to the profession, bridge gaps and begin to develop a strong competency base for the future of MCC. In
addition to some recommendations that deserve further research for future studies.
2023-10-17T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Investigating the Value of Counseling in Salala-Aisisagadai: A Local Wisdom Approach of Guidance and Counseling 2023-05-17T15:47:02+00:00 Augusto da Costa Mateus De Jesus Ximenes Denata Viana da Conceicão Adelia Soares Jose da Conceicão
Salala-Aisisagadai become a cultural dance (local wisdom) that involves many people beyond age and social status. The results of this study indicate that multicultural counseling is described as a fourth force or fourth dimension which is implicitly framed in competition with humanism, behaviorism, and psychodynamics. Multicultural counseling requires the cultural competence of the counselor. Competence consists of knowledge, skills, and attitudes required professionally in multicultural counseling. A counselor needs to see multicultural counseling as a relationship that is not only temporary but as a relationship that has a long-term impact because it is related to forms of problem solving, so that the counseling process for a counselor is a responsibility in interpreting differences between students in interpreting values in their lives.
2023-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Individual Counseling for Dyslexic Students 2023-05-17T15:47:02+00:00 Tita Rosita Yulia Nur Annisa
Students with dyslexia have difficulty reading so they are less able to understand learning material which has an impact on low academic, social and emotional scores. This is contrary to one of the Sundanese cultural values, namely the singer which means being a proactive person with a high work ethic, and is skilled. The conclusion of this study is that career decision making will have an impact on overall and sustainable career satisfaction, regardless of cultural background which includes gender and ethnicity. In making career decisions, each individual thinks about his career and how his thought processes will affect his career, especially those related to interests, abilities, values, job preferences, and the world of work. For this reason, career counseling guidance is here to help each individual make career-related decisions and effectively manage a career during their lifetime, including developing emotional resilience to overcome challenges that arise as their work life progresses.
2023-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Perspectives of Multicultural Counseling in Elementary School Education 2023-05-17T15:47:02+00:00 Wiwin Yuliani Nurmauli Banjarnahor
Counseling is a process to help individuals overcome obstacles to their own development and achieve optimal development of their personal abilities. Given that the people being assisted come from different cultural backgrounds, a deep understanding of counseling services is required. Multicultural counseling, also known as cross-cultural counseling, is a form of counseling to understand clients with different background characteristics. The type of research used by researchers in this research is library research or library research. In carrying out educational activities, multicultural education must also be taught in classrooms, schools and to build students'' and teachers'' critical awareness of what is happening at the moment. The main goal of multicultural education is to make the younger generation become agents to reduce inter-group conflicts (SARA), which usually involve radicalism movements that often occur in Indonesia. Being able to be a role model who is able to accept differences with full tolerance makes the teacher''s task as an educator, this must be balanced with a holistic understanding of multicultural concepts. The attitude that must be changed or improved is that what is must be changed to universalism, with the hope of giving birth to a generation ready to live in tolerance (tasamuh) and multiculturalism, so that there is no exclusive attitude which can make students extreme towards their understanding and less able to have a sense of tolerance and differences between other students (Nugraha, Agung, 2018).
2023-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 An Analysis of School Counselors’ Creative Personality in West Bandung Regency 2023-06-17T03:30:23+00:00 Ineu Maryani Ahman Juntika Nurihsan Ilfiandra
Personality is one of the aspects of a school counselor’s professional competence, which is shown by the ability to carry out creative and innovative services. They have a high curiosity, one of which is on the spiritual aspect. They are looking for their true identity to define the right way of life according to the guidance of the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. Viewed from a social perspective, students come from various regions, ethnicities with different religious understanding and diverse social backgrounds, so multiculturalism is reflected in Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
